I’m linking up with It’s Monday! What are you reading? hosted by Kathryn of The Book Date later on today. Kathryn took over this weekly, Monday meme from Shelia of Book Journey who had taken it over from J Kayne Book Blog. This meme is not just about adult books either. If you read picture and chapter books, juvenile fiction, or even YA, they count as well. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers give this Monday, book post link up a kid-focus.
Good afternoon. What have you been up to today? Fellow Americans, are you on holiday for the Fourth already?
Not much happened over the week except eye appointments, all three of us. Took at least two hours, part of it being the teenager trying to put a contact on one eyeball (no success). We all became a bit more near sighted. I just ordered more contacts, keeping my prescription as is while the dames chose new frames.
The teen has been working hard on her tennis skills. The coach is tough on her, recently telling her it’s okay to beat your friends in a match and you can be friendly later; he told her to be more aggressive and to even grunt when she hits it harder. My husband was like, “That’s what I’ve been always telling her!” LOL. Not only is my daughter taking a weekly, one-hour, private lesson, but she is also playing a match against another of the coach’s clients and on top of this, my kid is going to Open Court at her high school, led by one of the team’s captains.
The tween had a doctor’s appointment today for her yearly wellness check up. She’s almost as tall as me! Of course we forgot for her to bring her glasses but I told the nurse she saw the optometrist last week, etc.
I recently got back from the tea shop while the tween was in math class. I earned a free drink and it was cool that the two toppings I had added (usually $0.50 each) were free too!
I also finished the message and envelope of my BFF’s card; it’s in the mailbox with the flag up, waiting for our mailman to pick it up. I was kind of stuck on the design but was able to whip it out today. I’ll post about it tomorrow.
On a side note:
I like the quote above. I always enjoy walking into the adult section in the back while my teen browses upstairs in the YA section. It’s fun to peruse the shelves to see what’s out and read cover summaries. What about you?

*raises hand* Raise your hand if you have ever read a book in one sitting from beginning to end. Guess how long it took for me to read this 300+ paged book.
Two hours and forty minutes! I read it Saturday night from 9pm to 11:40pm. It was kind of like oh, I’ll read til the end of the chapter. Next, I’d be like oh, I’ll just read another chapter. Then it got to oh, I’m almost done; I might as well finish it!
I had read the first installment in February 2018. I liked it. This one, I really liked. The characters with their back stories and what drove them kept me interested. There are always cute animals involved, mostly dogs I think. The town and its main characters are always around; it’s like the show, Cheers. I’ve requested book three. Four stars.
What book have you read in one sitting?
I’m off to respond to your comments before I take the teen to Open Court. Thanks for droppin by. TTYS.
