I’m linking up with It’s Monday! What are you reading? hosted by Kathryn of The Book Date later on today. Kathryn took over this weekly, Monday meme from Shelia of Book Journey who had taken it over from J Kayne Book Blog. This meme is not just about adult books either. If you read picture and chapter books, juvenile fiction, or even YA, they count as well. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers give this Monday, book post link up a kid-focus.

Good morning. I got eggs in the pan and the tree men are here working. Woke up my babies, LOL.
Our crew has been having a relaxing three-day weekend. By day, paper has ruled my world. I had a Saturday of failures but Sunday was finally a success after some bumps were ironed out. By night the dames and I binged on Glee and playing Wordscapes + CodyCross: Wordcross Puzzles. I also added Angry Birds 2; still learning the ropes of bird power.
“Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life.”
Hoo-rah, I have finished my First Book of the Year! A Man Called OVE by Fredrik Backman is my third book going toward my 2019 Goodreads Challenge and to my Library Love Challenge.
What can I say about this book? I liked it. I seriously LOL’d several times at his grouchiness:
“And the poser has a girlfriend. Ten years younger. Tottering around the streets like an inebriated panda on heels as long as box wrenches, with clown paint all over her face and sunglasses so big that one can’t tell whether they’re a pair of glasses or some kind of helmet.” (pgs. 11-12)
This read was what I expected but it also surprised me with how its story developed and with how bonds formed. The chapters ran by fast and flowed into one another. I had one foot in the future and a step now and then into the past, understanding what was going on and how the past affected the present. Three stars. I will definitely read more of this author’s work.
Okay, now I am distracted by the cartoon, Carmen Sandiego, that the dames are watching. I’m off to watch and to work on thank you notes. Have a good Monday. Happy reading to you. TTYS.
