It’s Monday! What are you reading?

Hello! How was your last weekend of the month? Mine was full of resting, laundry, and crafting for the teenager’s BFF. I promise to show and tell in upcoming posts.

Let’s get down to business…

It’s time to link up with Kathryn of Book Date for It’s Monday! What are YOU reading? Kathryn took over this weekly, Monday meme from Shelia of Book Journey who had taken it over from J Kayne Book Blog.

This meme is not just about adult books either. If you read picture and chapter books, juvenile fiction, or even YA, they count as well. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers give this Monday, book post link up a kid-focus.

It’s Monday! What are YOU Reading? is all about catching up with fellow book lovers about one’s reading week. If you’d like to participate with us, simply link up, share about what’s goin’ on with you, and tell us about the good &/or bad reads you had for the week.

Today’s book post is short as I had mostly spent last week imprinting my butt cheeks into the couch while knitting like the Fast and the Furious. I got tired of sitting and knitting in silence so I decided to continue A Booktown Mystery series, my first audiobook for the 2018 Audiobook Challenge.

If your houseguest abuses your hospitality and has even betrayed your trust (no spoilers here; read the Goodreads summary), are you obligated to find out who murdered her? This is something Tricia, owner of Haven’t Got a Clue, had to decide when her old college roommate is murdered in her town.

I enjoyed the first two installments of this series, giving four stars to each. This one I liked, but Tricia got on my nerves a bit. Of course there were ways at times to handle things but of course her obstinance had her do what she thought was right even though she wasn’t an expert. Despite this, this book had an interesting murder because of who was entangled in it and why. I certainly was surprised at the final culprits. Three stars.

OK. Off to check up on the juvenile, gamer babe who’s gettin’ all agro playing video games. Have a good week. Happy reading to you. TTYS

  1. I enjoy you your planted butt cheeks 😂
We had the 5 year old’s birthday party prep and party. My reading suffered. But I did get to about 40% of The Handmaid’s Tale!

How do like that Handmaiden’s Tale? I heard it’s dark and can be brutal? Aw, five years old? I miss that age. What’s the theme?

      1. Whoops… that should have read *ENVY you. Good lord 🙈
So far it’s not too bad. I purposely didn’t read too much about it beforehand. Wouldn’t say I’m enjoying it but definitely it’s interesting.

        Power Rangers! 😄

What fun the kids will have with Power Rangers and it’s great they have a girl on the team. The couch doesn’t get much attention as we don’t watch much Roku here in the house like we used to. It’s comfier to knit there as I get better support.

That’s wonderful the Power Rangers partay was a success. A mother feels so good when her children glow, showing off their happiness yeah? I don’t know if my youngest will want a party; she didn’t last year. My oldest, we’ll see when that time comes.

      3. Yup.
We promised him a 5th birthday party. Then they’re supposed to wait until 10. But the almost 7 year old is currently negotiating one with his father. He knows which parent is the softie. 😄

That cozy series looks fun! I love a good cozy. I also love to read them in spring, when it is all rainy and gray outside. 🙂 We just watched Murder on the Orient Express, and it was amazing!!! I really need to read more Christie.

Have a wonderful week – and I am glad to have found your new blog. I couldn’t find you last week! 🙂

The Bookplate Special looks fun. I see it’s a Lorna Barrett, I’ve seen her books before and thought about trying them. I haven’t read a cozy in so long! that one looks great though.

It’s good to craft and listen to audio – it sure is a win-win. I didn’t really buy anything when I was away except for a mat that revolves so I can trim a block without moving the block – if that makes sense. At the moment I am getting very little reading done as I am on a roll putting a quilt top together! Happy reading for this week.

Have you read any of Maggie Sefton? She combines mystery and knitting. I am reading her 1st book now. Can’t give a review yet as I am only on chapter 3.

  7. I’ve been reading this series since the beginning but I got several books behind because Tricia becomes a bit more irritating as the books go on. The mysteries are always excellent though so I do need to get back to it!

  9. Every time I visit your new blog it looks better and better!!!! Wow.

Resting and laundry and crafting… Not too bad really. I’m one of those strange people that actually like laundry. Of all the household chores, I actually LIKE laundry. It’s not even that it’s my least despised chore – I really feel a sense of satisfaction from getting our clothes clean again and then getting them all flat and crisp and lined back up in the cupboards! 😉 I possibly have a small problem…. But then it’s not a bad one to have so I’m not seeking help! 🙂

Hope the juvenile was all good once you checked on her! 😀
